I'm afraid to start!  Mistakes can't be unwound from felted yarn!!!  Felters Help!

Christmas brought me 3 beautiful skeins of Cascade ("Pastaza") 50/50 wool/Llama yarn, 100 grams/132 yards, 4 stitch guage on #9 needles and

a felted hat pattern calling for #11 needles, 2 1/2 stitches per inch, 200 yds. wool yarn suggesting a heavy worsted wool doubled with an additional sport weight wool.

Will the difference in yarn make a difference in hat size?
If I make a swatch with a single strand of the cascade wool with the #11 needle and it fits the 2 1/2 guage will the hat be too thin and floppy?
I think I have enough to double the cascade yarn and make the hat but will it be too thick???
Should I buy and add a sport weight yarn (alpaca?)to the cascade yarn?
The gift was not from my local yarn store so I can't seek help there.

I'm itching to start!  Please respond!  huh
